Elva Boylan Harrington

Elva Lee Boylan Harrington, 96, formerly of Linden Street, Hertford, NC, and more recently of Donation Drive, Virginia Beach, VA, died Friday, November 21, 2014 in Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. Mrs. Harrington was born in Portsmouth, VA on October 5, 1918, and was the daughter of the late Harry Leslie and Lillian Lee Boylan. A retired school teacher, she was a member of Snug Harbor Community Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Harrington; daughter-in-law, Edith Harrington; and three sisters and a brother. Surviving are her daughter, Marcia Lee Humphreys and husband Lon of Hertford; two sons, David Leslie Harrington of Christiana, TN and Frank Boylan Harrington of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Serenity at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. John Alford. Friends may join the family at the home of her son, Frank Harrington, 1086 Donation Dr., Virginia Beach, immediately following the services on Tuesday, and other times at the home of her daughter, Marcia Humphreys, 102 Linden St., Hertford. A local memorial service for friends and neighbors in Hertford will be held Sunday, November 30, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in Snug Harbor Community Church by the Revs. Howard Sutton and Stanley Nixon.
