Bobby Ray Lassiter, Sr., 67, of 144 Catherine Creek Road, Hobbsville, NC, died Thursday, December 18, 2014 in his home. Mr. Lassiter was born on October 7, 1947 in Gates County and was the son of the late James E., Sr. and Maude Piland Lassiter. Retired from Lipton Tea Co., he also had owned and operated B & J Bait and Tackle, and was a member of Warwick Baptist Church. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the 1st Air Calvary Division. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James E. Lassiter, Jr. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Joyce Faye Lassiter; two daughters, Wanda Lassiter and Lisa Wilkins and husband Floyd; and a son, Bobby Ray Lassiter, Jr. and wife Julie, all of Hobbsville; four sisters, Alice Lane and Nancy Byrd, both of Suffolk, VA, Jane Leonard of Elgin, IL, and Susie Lamb of Hobbsville; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and will be officiated by the Rev. Frank Ellington. Military rites will be accorded in the chapel. A private graveside service will follow in the family cemetery near the home. Friends may join the family at the residence.
