Mott McKinley Roberts, Jr.

Mott McKinley Roberts, Jr., 91, of 305 Chowan Trail, Edenton, NC, died Friday, December 19, 2014 in the home of his grandson. Mr. Roberts was born in Lynchburg, VA on October 7, 1923, and was the son of the late Mott McKinley, Sr. and Colena Doss Roberts. A retired office manager from Tidewater Construction Company, he was a member of Bandon Chapel Church. A veteran, he had served in the US Army during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Moore "Kittye" Roberts, a sister, Dorothy, and a brother, Hunter. Surviving are his daughter, Grace Roberts Warden and husband Gordon of Elizabeth City; three sisters, Beatrice Mann of Rustburg, VA, Ruby Jacobs of Siler City, and Catherine Drinkard of Concord, VA; four brothers, Fred Roberts of Concord, Gerald Roberts of Richmond, VA, Ned Roberts of Lynchburg, and David Roberts of Texas; two grandchildren, Mark Nixon and Grace-Anne Scheid; three great-grandchildren, Bryce, Bella, and Jonathan; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by the Rev. Charlie Ullom. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service, and other times at the home of his grandson, Mark Nixon, 237 River Road, Edenton.
