Dennis Michael Babeaux

Dennis Michael Babeaux, 73, of 216 Montpelier Drive, Edenton, NC, died Monday, December 22, 2014 in his home. Mr. Babeaux was born in Greenville, PA on March 10, 1941 and was the son of the late Martin Sebastian Babeaux and Rita Spatilson Babeaux Thomas and was raised in the Catholic church. Retired from Local Union 421 as a Nuclear Power Welder and job superintendent, he later was a consultant with Tidewater Construction Company. A United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War era, he served aboard the USS Bache and the USS Harold J. Ellison submarines, received the Good Conduct Medal in 1961, and an Honorable Discharge in 1962, leaving service as a SFP3/E4. Enjoyments included fishing and hunting with his son. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Wayne Babeaux on Oct. 5, 1984; by his sister, Linda Babeaux Skoff; and by a nephew, Danny Markovitz. Loved by all who knew him, and by those who somehow crossed his path, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Wheeler Babeaux; his daughter, Denise Lynette Babeaux and companion, Terri Hall, of Fresno, CA; his sister, Dolly Markovitz and husband Jim of McDonald, PA; two brothers, Johnnie Babeaux and wife Rita of Valparaiso, IN and Bernard Babeaux and wife Phyllis of Petersburg, MI; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. A service for the deceased will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, by The Rev. William L. Pitts. Burial with military honors will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Friday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home and other times at the residence.
