Peggy Ward

Elsie Eason "Peggy" Ward, 98, of 4011 Virginia Road, Tyner, NC, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in Chowan River Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Edenton. Mrs. Ward was born in Gates County on October 22, 1916, and was the daughter of the late Duke and Elsie Alphin Eason. A homemaker, she was a member of Warwick Baptist Church and its Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hoytt Ward, Sr.; two sisters who died as children, Hope and Beryl Eason; two other sisters, Bernice Ralph and Starr Rhodes; two brothers, John Eason and Mack Eason; and by her daughter-in-law, Mary Phthisic Ward. Surviving are her son, Paul H. "Bobby" Ward, Jr. of Tyner; two grandchildren, Paul H. Ward, III and wife Pam of Edenton, and Leah Frances Ward of Tyner; and two great-grandchildren, Grace and Benjamin Ward. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. in Warwick Baptist Church by the Rev. Frank Ellington. A private entombment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the church immediately following the service.
