Carroll Y. Padrick, Jr.

Carroll Y. "Pat" Padrick, Jr., 89, of 1146 Drum Hill Road, Gates, NC, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Mr. Padrick was born in Lenoir County on January 16, 1925, and was the son of the late Carroll Y., Sr. and Effie Jane Dawson Padrick. Retired from Atlantic Coast Line Railroad and later from Norfolk Naval Shipyard, he was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints- Franklin Ward. A United States Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he received numerous decorations, including the Purple Heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Hill Padrick, and several sisters and brothers. Surviving are his daughter, Karen Padrick Hofler; a brother, Elwood Ray Padrick; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville. Burial with military honors will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3920 Airline Blvd., Chesapeake, VA. Friends may join the family Sunday from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
