Dennis Nolan Winstead, 67, of 46 Stocks Lane, Corapeake, NC, died Sunday, January 18, 2015 in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, VA. Mr. Winstead was born in Norfolk, VA on February 3, 1947, and was the son of the late Randolph and Dorothy Friend Kessler "Dot" Winstead. A retired master plumber from Virginia Beach School Plant, he was a member of Soundside Hunt Club in Columbia, NC. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he had received several decorations, including the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Randa Spencer. Surviving are his wife, Linda Overstreet Winstead; a daughter, Jackie Denise Gudac of Norfolk; a son, James William Winstead of Virginia Beach, VA; a brother, Richard Earl Winstead of Virginia Beach; the mother of his children, Susan Winstead of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, Alexandra, Mark, Emily, Molly, and Madelyn; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A memorial service will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service, and all other times at the residence.
