Myrtle Lee Harrell Davenport, 87, of 150 Substation Road, Edenton, NC, died Thursday, January 22, 2015 in Vidant Edgecombe Hospital, Tarboro. Mrs. Davenport was born in Halifax County, NC on August 12, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Lindell Adams Harrell. The owner and operator of Mill End Fabric Shop for over 50 years, she was a member of Cape Colony Church of Christ, and was a "Gold Star Sister" in the American Legion Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Andrew Davenport, her brother, Ralph "Sonny" Harrell, and by her daughter-in-law, Shirley J. Davenport. Surviving are her daughters, Cherie D. Martin of Edenton and Cindy D. Currin and husband, Dr. Lee Currin of Louisburg; her son, The Rev. Steven Davenport of Hertford; two sisters, Bernice Layden of Bamburg, SC and Peggy Harrell Harris of Hertford; a brother, Carl Harrell of Edenton; six grandchildren, Beau Davenport and wife Diane, Kelly Russell and husband David, Kimberly Currin, Christy Davenport, Cage Martin, and Emily Currin; and four great-grandchildren, Jackson and Sydney Russell and Alyssa and Logan Davenport. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by the Revs. Thomas Biggs and Steven Davenport. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home, and all other times at the residence.
