Carolyn Odom Hollowell, 81, of 537B Wingfield Road, Tyner, NC, died Thursday, January 29, 2015 in her home. Mrs. Hollowell was born on February 24, 1933 in Hertford County, and was one of eight children born to the late Joe John and Lettie Mae Harrell Odom. A former employee of Seabrook Blanching Corp., she had also worked seasonally in helping area farmers house tobacco. She was a faithful member of Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church and its Aurelia Leary Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents and four of her siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Hollowell, Sr. Surviving are her daughter, Monissa H. Williams and husband John; her son, David Lee Hollowell, Jr. and wife Glenda, all of Tyner; a sister, Shirley O. Bryant of Woodland; two brothers, Adolph Odom of Windsor and George "Buck" Odom of Tyner; three grandchildren, Tracy Hollowell and wife Melissa, Leann Woodard and husband Kevin, and Jason Bunch and wife Nicole; and three great-grandchildren, Seth and Chase Bunch, and Isabella Hollowell. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Parr. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
