Earl Elliott Rogerson

Earl Elliott Rogerson, 84, of 133 Wiggins Road, Hertford, NC, died Friday, February 13, 2015 in his home. Mr. Rogerson was born in Perquimans County on January 3, 1931, and was the son of the late William Darden and Lillian Madre Rogerson. A retired farmer, he had served in the United States Air Force, earning the rank of Sergeant before being Honorably Discharged in July of 1959. A long-time member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, favorite pastimes included hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, France Spivey, and by his brothers, William M. Rogerson and Thomas Glenn Rogerson. Surviving are his wife of over 51 years, Carolyn Bunch Rogerson; a daughter, Valerie R. Coltrain and husband Ray of Hertford; two grandchildren, Rachel Farrish and husband Mike and Nick Coltrain and wife Megan; three great-grandchildren, Sarrah, Brenden, and Aurora; and by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church by the Rev. Howard Sutton. Military honors will be accorded in the church and a private burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family Sunday from 5 to 6 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and other times at the residence.
