Chris Johnson

Christopher Hardy "Chris" Johnson, 53, of 958 Thunder Road, Elizabeth City, NC, died Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in his home. Chris was born in Pasquotank County on July 22, 1961, and was the son of the late Garfield Francis "G.F." and Winona Brothers Johnson. He was a member of Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Linda Hyatt Johnson; two daughters, Ruth Pinner and Barbara Pinner and fiancé, Martin Layden; his mother-in-law, Barbara Hyatt; three grandchildren, Anna, Rigel and Tia; and a cousin, Ricky Bass. The family will hold a memorial service Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the residence and it will be officiated by the Rev. Don Morris. Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is assisting the family with the cremation arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Winona Johnson Joy Club, Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church, 700 North Road Street, or to the SPCA of Northeastern NC, 100 Wilson St., both in Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
