Edgar Lee Friar, 53, of 629 Sans Souci Road, Windsor, NC, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015 in Vidant Bertie Hospital, Windsor, after a long and brave fight with cancer. Mr. Friar was born in Staten Island, NY and graduated from Totenville High School. A Master Finisher in the construction business, he did extensive work in New York, both commercial and residential. After moving to North Carolina he had worked on several historical buildings in Edenton, including The Barker House, The Cupola House, Pembroke Hall, and the James Iredell House. Preceded in death by his mother, Florence O'Neill Friar, he is survived by his father, Mitchell L. Friar of Belvidere; his girlfriend and soulmate of over 20 years, Robette Booth, whom he met while living in Pennsylvania; and by his sister, Kim Friar of Stevensville, MD. A gathering will be held on Wednesday, February 25th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the home. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leo W. Jenkins Cancer Center or to any chapter of the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.millerfhc.com.
