Elwood Casper

Arthur Elwood Casper, 81, of 212 Joppa Road, Belvidere, NC, died Saturday, March 14, 2015 in his home. Mr. Casper was born in Chowan County on August 26, 1933 and was the son of the late Arthur Lee and Sally Mary Owens Casper. A retired truck driver, he was a member and deacon of Sandy Cross Baptist Church, and also enjoyed the fellowship of the Bosley Hunt Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sons. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Faye Byrum Casper; two daughters, Frances C. Wall and husband Steve of Eure and Lois C. Chappell and husband Ronald of Elizabeth City; a son, Christopher Elwood Casper and wife Elizabeth of Belvidere; a sister, Maggie Monds of Gates; two brothers, Vernon Ray "Blue Eyes" Casper and Calvin "Peter Pan" Casper, both of Belvidere; and four grandchildren, Jason Rountree, Andy Wall, Jimmy Purcell, and Christy Rountree. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Sandy Cross Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Jesse Croom. A private burial will follow in the King Family Cemetery near the home. Friends may join the family Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, in the social hall of the church immediately following the service, or all other times at the residence.
