Nancy Lee Copeland

Nancy Hawkins Lee Copeland, 77, of 813 NC Hwy 45 North, Merry Hill, NC, and formerly of Edenton, died Sunday, March 15, 2015. Mrs. Copeland was born in Bertie County on August 7, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Leon and Mamie Ward Hawkins. She had retired as the manager of the Stop Shop Convenience Store. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Melvin Lee and Melvin R. Copeland, Sr.; and sons, Melvin Alton Lee and Vernon Edward Lee. Surviving are a daughter, Rita Wilkins; sons, Jerry Lee and wife Margaret and Travis Copeland and wife Amber; a sister, Mary Barnes; brothers, Walter, Jerry, Richard, and Jimmy Lee Hawkins; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by the Rev. Carroll Bunch. A private burial will be held at a later time in the Lee Family Cemetery.
