Carol Lynette White, 54, passed on to be with the Lord from her home on White Post Farm on Monday, March 30, 2015, where she was passionate about her heritage and the family farm. Lynette was born in Franklin, VA on December 25, 1960, and was the daughter of Thomas W. White of Franklin, VA and Dorothy V. Speight of Woodbridge, VA. Raised in northern Virginia, Lynette returned to her southern roots of Gates County, NC and Nansemond-Suffolk, VA. Following a career with a Washington, DC law firm, and as an associate with Ernst & Young, she relocated to the "home place" and became a dedicated employee of the City of Suffolk for 18 years. She retired in 2011 as the first Director of Tourism for the city, and had formerly served as a Senior Business Development Manager. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her two children, Daniel K. Barrow, and Lauren M. Martinez and husband David; a granddaughter, Makayla M. Barrow; a half-brother, Jimmy and wife Lori; a half-sister, Angie; and two nieces. Services will be private. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, NC is assisting the family with arrangements.
