Edmond Benjamin Davenport

Edmond Benjamin Davenport, 80, of 101 Queen Anne Drive, Edenton, NC, died Friday, April 17, 2015 in his home. Mr. Davenport was born in Chowan County on January 8, 1935, and was the son of the late Carlie Benjamin and Minnie Gertrude Brickhouse Davenport. Retired after 39 years with Charlotte Liberty Mutual, and later Liberty Life Insurance companies, he worked in both sales and agency management. He was a member of Countryside Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Vera Shaw, Nancy Elizabeth Lassiter, and Martha Davenport Hawkins; and by brothers, Guilford "Big Bud" Davenport and Carlie Woodrow "Carlie Boy" Davenport. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Brenda Hardison Davenport; two sons, Carlie Benjamin Davenport of Atlanta, GA and Jonathan Edmond Davenport and wife Katherine of Fresno, CA; a sister, Nelda Davenport Jones of Havelock; four grandchildren, Mingnon Davenport Pender and husband Michael, Ava Dannette Davenport, Carlie Elizabeth Davenport, and Camille Hardison Davenport; and three great-grandchildren, Sani, Marcus, and McCoy. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by Pastor Bob Brock. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
