Thomas Preston McClenney

Thomas Preston McClenney, 72, of 2023 US Hwy 17 North, Merry Hill, NC, died Saturday, April 25, 2015 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton. Mr. McClenney was born in Bertie County on October 13, 1942, and was the son of the late Wilbert J., Sr. and Dannie Perry McClenney. A retired carpenter and roofer, he was a member of Capehart Baptist Church and the Cisco Hunt Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Preston McClenney and Keith Byrum, and by sisters, Sylvia Bunch and Caroline Pratt. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Louise Gray McClenney; daughters, Joyce McClenney Moye and husband B.J. of Prattville, AL, Melinda Owens and husband Leroy of Edenton, and Marsha Beaton and husband Todd of Aulander; a sister, Mary McClenney White of Hertford; a brother, W.J. McClenney, Jr. of Merry Hill; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. Burial will follow in the McClenney Family Cemetery on Riverby Farm Road in the Rocky Hock community of Chowan County.
