Gary William Howell, 57, of 1452 US Hwy 158 W., Murfreesboro, NC, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in Vidant Inpatient Hospice, Greenville, NC. Gary was born in the Como community of Hertford County, on July 22, 1957 and was the son of the late Roy William and Helen Flythe Howell. Employed with International Paper in Franklin for many years prior to the mill shutdown, he later worked with Harsco, Inc. A member of Buckhorn Baptist Church, he was an avid motorcycle, hunting, and fishing enthusiast. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Howell. Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Sheri Hollowell Howell; three children, Jessica Ruiz and husband Jaime, and Parker Howell, all of Murfressboro, and Glenda Howell of California; a sister, Vicki Benthall, and a brother, Larry Howell, both of Como; and a grandson, Ethyn Beachboard. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in Buckhorn Baptist Church by the Rev. Sean Gallager. A private inurnment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church following the service, and all other times at the residence.
