Peggy Carpenter Hobbs, 69, of 497 Spivey Road, Hobbsville, NC, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 in her home. Mrs. Hobbs was born in Portsmouth, VA on June 26, 1945, and was the daughter of the late John Russell and Pearl Irene Peterson Carpenter. A homemaker, she was a member of Faith Assembly of God and a life-time member of Suffolk Moose Lodge #141. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Russell Carpenter. Surviving are her husband, Charlie Hobbs; five daughters, Sherry Babb (Junnie), Deborah Cisco (Billy), Brenda Page (David), all of Hobbsville, Linda Clear of Zuni, VA, and Karen Parker of Elizabeth City; three sons, Michael Konecny (Tammy) of Kill Devil Hills, David Phelps, Jr. of Fayetteville, and John Phelps (Donna) of Hertford; a sister, Jerry Manning of Chesapeake, VA; 26 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Faith Assembly of God by Pastor Philip Harden. Burial will follow in the Hobbs Family Cemetery near the home. Friends may join the family Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and other times at the residence.
