Johnie Arthur Bissette, 77, of 209 Mt. Gould River Road, Merry Hill, NC, died Sunday, May 31, 2015 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville. Mr. Bissette was born in Wilson County on January 21, 1938 and was the son of Vina Lee Arthur Bissette of Raleigh and the late Johnie Elmer Bissette. Retired as a Recruiting Supervisor 5th District U. S. Coast Guard with 27 years of service, he also had an additional 15 years with civil service. He was a member and deacon of Bethany Baptist Church. A talented musician, he enjoyed being a member of the "Red Barn Gang" at David's Red Barn in Edenton. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 36 years, Rebecca Hughes "Becki" Bissette; three daughters, Pamela Westmoreland and husband Sean of Hampton, VA, Angela Cain of Newport News, VA, and Melissa Smith and husband Henry of Seaford, VA; a sister, Elizabeth Cope of Raleigh; a brother, C. Mack Bissette of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Bethany Baptist Church by the Rev. Tommy Tripp. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, is assisting the family with arrangements. Friends may join the family at the residence.
