Dallas Lee Jethro, Jr.

Dallas Lee Jethro, Jr., 85, of 834 Drummond's Point Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2015. Mr. Jethro was born in Chowan County on October 27, 1929, and was the son of the late Dallas Lee, Sr. and Helen Baker Jethro. Retiring in 1996 after serving as the Chowan County Tax Administrator for 25 years, he also had worked as a farmer, was a member of Yeopim Baptist Church, and had served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the North Carolina National Guard, and on the Chowan County Board of Commissioners. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Wayne Jethro; and by his brother, John Gordon Jethro. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Annie Lee White Jethro; his daughter, Cheryl West and husband Lionel of Jamesville; two sisters, Thelma Halsey of Edenton and Helen Beasley of Plymouth; two brothers, Julian Jethro of Lovegrove, VA and Phillip Jethro of Williamston; three grandchildren, Morgan Jethro and Taylor Jethro, both of Edenton, and Brandon West of Jamesville; a great-granddaughter, Anais White; a special niece, Inez Chappell; and many other nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in Beaver Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Stanley Nixon. The family will assemble at Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, at 2:45 p.m. for the procession to the grave. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.millerfhc.com.
