Clifford Stanley Winslow, 85, of 202 Community Building Road, Belvidere, NC, died Sunday, June 7, 2015 in North Carolina Memorial Hospital, Chapel Hill. Mr. Winslow was born in Perquimans County on September 28, 1929, and was the son of the late George Benjamin and Sybil Winslow. A 1947 graduate of Perquimans County High School where he had served as his class president, his life's work was farming. A faithful member of Up River Friends Meeting where he had served on many of its boards and committees, he extended his service to the Lord as both clerk and as trustee of the Friends United Meeting, clerk of the NC Yearly Meeting and as chairman of its Pastoral Care Committee. A charter member of the Perquimans County Rescue Squad, he had served on the Farm Bureau Board, and was on the Perquimans County Board of Education for 28 years, serving as chairman for 24 of those years. For his work in Education, in 1981 he received the Raleigh Dingman Outstanding Boardsmanship Award. A veteran of the Korean War era, he served in the Army Medical Corps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Rountree Winslow, and by his brother, Otis Winslow. Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Etta Florence Wrenn Winslow; a daughter, Claudia W. Rawlings and husband Brad of Wendell; two sons, Stanley J. Winslow and wife Lou Ann, and Edward M. Winslow and wife Jewel, all of Belvidere; a sister, Dorothy Jean Hathaway of Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren, Matt Winslow and wife Amanda, Ashley Jethro and husband David, Austin Winslow and wife Lacey, Nicholas Rawlings, Marie Rawlings and fiancé Ben Dagger, Curtis Rawlings, Amber Winslow, and Brandon Winslow; and three great-grandchildren, Caden Winslow, Eliza Grace Jethro, and Colt Winslow. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in Up River Friends Meeting by Pastors Chuck Hartman and Richard Wilcox. Mr. Don Farlow will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in Up River Cemetery, with Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family in the church fellowship hall immediately following the graveside rites, and all other times at Stan and Lou Ann's home, 307 Turnpike Road, Belvidere.
