Thomas Preston Elliott, 76, 613 Four Mile Desert Road, Hertford, NC, died Sunday, June 7, 2015 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City. Mr. Elliott was born in Perquimans County on March 21, 1939, and was the son of the late Anthony Benjamin and Gladys Jordan Elliott. A life-long farmer, he was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and had served in the North Carolina National Guard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Phelps Elliott; sisters, Marian Henderson, Gertrude Keller, Margarite Mahone, and Hattie Etheridge; and by brothers, Troy, Joe, Alphonso, and Will Elliott. Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Carol Anne Chadwick Elliott; two sons, Ivie Elliott of Fayetteville and Brian Williams and wife Tammy of Hertford; a daughter, Angie Moose and husband Stacy of Manteo; a sister, Iris Byrum of Elizabeth City; two brothers, Hubert Elliott and Jarvis Elliott, both of Elizabeth City; and five grandchildren, Carla Marie, Brian Nathaniel, Thomas James, Brandy Nicole, and Julia Lynn. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church by the Rev. Howard Sutton. Burial will follow in the Bagley Swamp Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and all other times at the residence.
