Peanie Wade Smith Lee

Peanie Wade Smith Lee, 89, of 933 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA, died Saturday, June 6, 2015 in her home. Mrs. Lee was born in Perquimans County, NC on January 10, 1926, and was the daughter of the late George William and Mary Arabelle Mansfield Smith. A retired bookkeeper in the payroll department of Old Dominion Stevedoring Company, she was a member of Ocean View Baptist Church in Norfolk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, William Franklin Lee; sisters, Bessie Harrell and Myrtle Smith; and by brothers, Vernon, Josey, Norman, Charlie, Willford, and Elmer Smith. Surviving are her son, David Wade Lee and wife Lynn Sullivan of Millersville, MD; three grandsons, Daniel, Justin, and Kevin Lee; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, NC by the Rev. David Brooks. The graveside portion of the service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Cedarwood Cemetery, Hertford. Friends may join the family in the funeral home the hour prior to services on Friday, or any other time at the home of Yates and Mary Julia Parrish, 381 Old Hertford Road, Edenton.
