John Pearce Chilcoat, III, 73, of 113 Robin Lane, Edenton, NC, died Monday, June 15, 2015 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville. Mr. Chilcoat was born in Baltimore, MD on January 2, 1942, and was the son of the late John Pearce Chilcoat, Jr. and Anne McCrary Chilcoat. The retired manager of Food Lion of Edenton, he was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the Sons of the American Legion, had served as both Vice-President and Treasurer of the James Iredell Association, had volunteered with the Edenton-Chowan Food Pantry and the Edenton Visitors Center, had been active with the former Edenton Little Theater, and had served on the board of directors of both the Chowan Regional Fair and the NC Association of Agricultural Fairs. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Judith Wilson Chilcoat; two daughters, Susan Chilcoat Harrelson and husband Hal of Laurel, MD and Christina Chilcoat Cash and husband Jeff of Simpsonville, KY; a son, John Pearce Chilcoat, IV of Edenton; a sister, Kathryn C. Barnes and husband Ken of Baltimore; and four grandchildren, Kathleen and Thomas Harrelson and Ian and Molly Cash. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in the church memorial garden. Friends may join the family in the church parish hall immediately following the burial.
