Jimmy Wesley Ester, 79, of 309 White Oak Drive, Edenton, NC, died Tuesday, June 16, 2015 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville. Mr. Ester was born on February 9, 1936 in Montgomery County and was the son of the late Samuel Elmer and Delette Kennedy Ester. Retired from the Sheet Metal Union, and based at Weyerhaeuser Corp. in Plymouth for 26 years, he was an Army veteran, and later served in the North Carolina National Guard for more than 20 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Valinda Barker Ester; two sons, Timothy and Tony Ester; a sister, Bonnie Bowman; and a brother, Johnny Ester. Surviving are his daughter, Louann E. Smith and husband Elbridge, and a son, Gary D. Ester, all of Edenton; a daughter-in-law, Penny Black of Candor; seven grandchildren, Bob Smith and wife Sherlynne, Cammy Smith, Erin Smith, Kristy Parsons, Rob Ester and wife Morgan, Savannah Ester, and Paige Black; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Lilly Parsons. Graveside services will be held Friday at 6:00 p.m. in Beaver Hill Cemetery and will be officiated by The Rev. Tracy Smith. Friends may join the family at the residence.
