Edwin Morris Small, Jr., 62, of 1011 Quail Run Drive, Edenton, NC, died Monday, June 29, 2015 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville. Mr. Small was born in Chowan County on October 5, 1952, and was the son of the late Edwin Morris Small, Sr. and Frances Bunch Small. A graduate of the UNC School of Banking, he was the Vice-President and Branch Manager of Yadkin Bank in Hertford. He was a faithful member of Edenton United Methodist Church, where he served as Worship Chairman, Treasurer of the Methodist Men, was a member of the Adult Choir and the Praise Team, and for many years had taught Sunday School. Community involvement included membership in the Edenton Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, the Edenton Jaycees where he received the Distinguished Service Award, and work on the College of the Albemarle Foundation Board. An avid member of the East Carolina University Pirate Club, he loved all things Purple and Gold. Surviving are his wife of nearly 36 years, Susan Strickland Small; three daughters, Katie Small Eason and husband Blake of Goldsboro, Brooke Small Overton and husband Ryan of Edenton, and Lauren Small Tillman and husband Jeremy of Greenville; a one year old granddaughter, Madeline Claire Eason, a one month old grandson, Brantley James Tillman; a sister, Yvonne Small Parker and husband Charlie of Kenansville; a brother, Jerry Small and wife Brenda of Edenton; and his step-mother, Helen Small of Camden. A Celebration of His Life will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Edenton United Methodist Church by the Rev. Chris Aydlett. A private burial will follow on the Small Family Plot at Beaver Hill Cemetery, with Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, handling arrangements.
