Virginia Pearl Webb Hemmings, 94, of 1404 Fox Trail, Edenton, NC, died Tuesday, June 30, 2015 in Vidant Inpatient Hospice, Greenville. Mrs. Hemmings was born on January 13, 1921 in Buchanan County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Archie D. and Laura Heath Webb. A homemaker, in years past she had worked in manufacturing. A former member of Deep Creek Baptist Church in Chesapeake, after moving to Chowan County she became a faithful member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Edward "Shelby" Hemmings; and by her son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Pam Hemmings. Surviving are her son, Leon Hemmings and wife Rita of Edenton; three sisters, Toby Gail Wigfield of Churchville, VA, Opal Lorrain Sherrill of Tarboro, and Mary Phyllis Lamm of Portsmouth, VA; a brother, Paul MacArthur Webb of St. Petersburg, FL; a niece, Gay Beaman and husband Bob of Edenton; 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church by Dr. James Horton. A graveside service will follow that afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, 4569 Shoulders Hill Road, Suffolk, VA. Friends may join the family Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at the residence.
