Marie Casper Evans

Willie Marie Casper Evans, 85, of 136 Bowens Road, Edenton, NC, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015 in Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation, Hertford. Mrs. Evans was born in Gates County on September 23, 1929, and was the daughter of the late William John Casper and Thelma Parker Casper Hicks. A homemaker, she was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and the Advance Home Extension Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Elton Evans; a son, Linwood Evans; and a sister, Thelma Whitaker. Surviving are two daughters, Helen Faye Swain and husband Larry, and Tina Harrell, all of Edenton; three sons, Herbert Ray Evans and wife Dianne of Kingston, OH, James Marshall Evans and wife Susan of Edenton, and Clarence Evans and wife Lesia of Merry Hill; two sisters, Edna Thomas-Harrell of Edenton and Elizabeth Scott of Roanoke Rapids; a brother, John Casper of Durham; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by the Rev. Bob Young. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
