Elizabeth Leola Elliott Winslow, 94, of Sunset Drive, Hertford, NC, died Friday, July 24, 2015. Mrs. Winslow was born in Perquimans County on July 28, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Clyde and Ocia Copeland Elliott. After the death of her parents when she was 12 years old, she went to live with and be raised by her aunt and uncle, Ibbie and Freeland Copeland. As a child she attended Piney Woods Friends Meeting, and later after marrying and moving to Hertford, became a member of Hertford Baptist Church. Through the years she was employed by Gregory Five & Dime, Louis Winslow TV Sales & Service, the Soil and Conservation Service, and the Perquimans County Board of Elections. She will long be remembered by her friends and family as being a wonderful cook, a faithful church member, and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George G. Winslow; a daughter, Shelia Elizabeth Winslow; a sister, Thelma Elliott Zaluski; brothers, Murray, Johnnie, and Freeland Elliott; and by a cousin she was raised with as a sister, Mildred Copeland Jenkins. Surviving are her daughter, Georgia Winslow Stallings and husband C.J. of Belvidere; grandchildren, Elizabeth Hope Stallings-Ward and husband Jon of Hertford and Clifton George Stallings of Mooresville; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth "Ellie" Ward, Jackson Ward, and Molly Ward; her sister, Mary E. Adams of Canaan, CT; and by cousins she was raised with as her brothers, Willard Copeland of Hertford and Parker Copeland of Elizabeth City. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be officiated by the Rev. Gregory Clark. A private burial will follow in Up River Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service on Sunday, and other times at Hope and Jon's home, 105 River Drive, Hertford.
