Stanley Webster Pratt, 65, of 208 West Eden Street, Edenton, NC, passed from this life to his eternal home with his Lord, on Friday, July 31, 2015 in Sentara Hospice House, Virginia Beach, VA. Mr. Pratt was born in Edenton on August 30, 1949 and was the son of the late Robert Long Pratt, Sr. and Louise Simpson Pratt. A graduate of John A. Holmes High School, he had received an Associate of Arts degree from COA, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from ECU, with minors in business and psychology. A lab technician with JLA Global (formerly PERT Lab), he will also be remembered in the area for his long-time employment with Nabisco Corp. A Christian, he was a life-long member of Edenton Baptist Church where he had served as a Sunday School officer, a teacher in the Youth Sunday School Dept., Chairperson of the Outreach Committee, and for many years faithfully served the deacons at their monthly breakfast. His love of music led him to membership in his high school band, his service of singing in the church Adult Choir, and twice singing with the Chowan Chorale at Carnegie Hall in New York, in 2001's Mozart, Jonathan Griffith, Conductor, and 2003's Mass of the Children, John Rutter, Conductor. Other loves included his being an avid Carolina Tar Heel fan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by cousins, Judy Copeland, Carl Douglas Davenport, and Margie Ward. A devoted husband, a loving brother, and an adoring uncle, his is survived by his wife, Tani Lynn Faulkenberry Pratt; his brother, Robert L. Pratt, Jr. and wife Wanda of Midlothian, VA; a niece, Robin Millen, her husband David, and their children, Sydney and Zachary, also of Midlothian; a nephew, John B. Pratt, and his children, Nicole and Robert, of El Paso, TX. Also surviving are his cousins, Joan Forehand (who was like his sister) of Portsmouth, VA, Avis Lee and husband Joe, R.B. Davenport, Wayne Forehand and wife Cathy, and Mack Forehand and wife Gloria, all of Edenton, Marvin Davenport and wife Amelia of Merry Hill, Margaret Phelps of Windsor, and William Copeland of Hertford; and by his much loved and adored faithful canine companion, Sammie. A simple graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in Beaver Hill Cemetery, with Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, handling arrangements. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on his birthday, Sunday, August 30th, at 2:00 p.m. in Edenton Baptist Church, where a reception will follow for friends to fellowship with the family. Later that evening at 7:00 p.m. the family encourages and invites you to join them in support of the Edenton Baptist Church Adult Choir as they participate in the 5th Sunday Sing at Macedonia Baptist Church. Stanley dearly loved the 5th Sunday Sings and the music shared there as it Glorifies our Lord. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Edenton Baptist Church and its Community Missions Fund, 200 S.
