Sam Story

Dwight Samuel "Sam" Story, 60, of 913 Four Mile Desert Road, Hertford, NC, died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Mr. Story was born in Perquimans County on October 18, 1954, and was the son of the late Thomas Crowder, II and Clara Higgins Story. Employed as a heavy equipment operator for many years, he attended both Parkville Holiness Church and Faith Assembly of God. Surviving are his wife of nearly 37 years, Tammy Gallop Story; a daughter, Christina Furman and husband Bobby of Blount's Creek; three sons, Aron Gallop and wife Kelly, Paul Story and wife Rebecca, and Daniel Story and wife Sarah, all of Hertford; three sisters, Kathleen Etheridge, Josephine Allen, and Glenna Pike; four brothers, Thomas, III, Willie, Richard, and Ronnie Story; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Faith Assembly of God by Pastor Philip Harden. A private burial will follow in the Story Family Cemetery. Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is handling arrangements. Friends may join the family in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the funeral service and all other times at the residence.
