Betty Thomas Chappell

Betty Thomas Chappell, 58, of Edenton, NC, died Tuesday, August 18, 2015. Born in Bertie County on January 26, 1957, she was the daughter of Margie Byrum Webb of Fountain and the late Irvin Thomas. She was a homemaker. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Hank Chappell, and by her sister, Teresa Gooding. Surviving along with her mother are her daughter, Amanda Stallings and husband Adam of Belvidere; a son, Alton Chappell and wife Beth of Hertford; a brother, Russell Thomas; and 11 grandchildren, Tommy, Dylan, Hunter, Mikayla, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Hannah, and Wyatt Chappell, Madison Jennings, and Jacob and Shay Stallings. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the Chappell Family Cemetery at the corner of County Line Road and NC Hwy 37, Belvidere, by the Rev. Donald Sawyer. Friends may join the family Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and all other times at the home of Amanda and Adam Stallings, 1225 County Line Road, Belvidere.
