Opal Vandenberge "Billie" White, 91, of 168 Swaynes Lane, Hertford, NC, died Monday, August 24, 2015 in Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation, Elizabeth City. Mrs. Billie was born in Miller County, Arkansas on May 27, 1924, and was the daughter of the late William C. and Eula Mae Smith Vandenberge. A homemaker, she was a charter member of New Hope Assembly of God, now Harbor of Hope Community Church, and also attended Family Worship Center and Hertford Pentecostal Holiness Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius Trafton "C.T." White, her daughter-in-law, Judy White, a granddaughter, Patricia White, a great-granddaughter, three sisters, and by three brothers. Surviving are her son, Charles Trafton White and wife Wanda of Hertford; three grandchildren, Teresa Ben-Dov, David White, and Brenda Johnson; nine great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Harbor of Hope Community Church (formerly New Hope Assembly of God), 113 Deep Creek Road, Hertford, by Pastors Mike Warner and H. Gene Boyce and Rabbi Joseph Rosenfarb. A private burial will follow in the Jolliff Family Cemetery, Belvidere. Friends may join the family Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and all other times at the residence.
