Henry Francis Cobb, 82, of 518 Jamestown Road, Windsor, NC, died Sunday, September 6, 2015 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton. Mr. Cobb was born in Gates County, and was one of 12 children born to the late Zeb Vance and Lillian Brown Cobb. A retired boiler engineer with Amoco Oil Company in Chesapeake, VA, he was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in the Perrytown community of Bertie County. He had served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany as a tank mechanic. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ernestine Leggett; and by brothers, Cordell, Harvey, Leslie, and George. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Ruth White Cobb; two sons, Joe Cobb and wife Jacqueline, and Ray Cobb and wife Julea, all of Chesapeake; three sisters, Iris Pierce of Colerain, Dorothy Baker of Windsor, and Linda Connolly of Beuna Vista, VA; three brothers, Earl Cobb and Rob Cobb, both of Colerain, and Will Cobb of Tyner; and five grandchildren, Joe, II, Hanna, Jonathan, Jessica, and Aaron Cobb. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Edgewood Cemetery in Windsor. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and other times at the residence.
