Charles Benjamin Barker, Jr., age 73, passed away at his home near Smyrna, Delaware on Thursday, September 10, 2015. He was born in Windsor, North Carolina on April 6, 1942; the son of the late Charles B. Barker, Sr. and Carolyn R. Barker Wells. Mr. Barker was employed by Atlantic Aviation Corporation in New Castle, Delaware for 29 years and was an antique dealer and owner of Attic Treasures Antiques in Smyrna, Delaware. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, LaVonne Barker, his son and "daughter" Dr. Chuck and Fran Barker, his grandson and "granddaughter", Dr. Chas and Angie Barker and his grandson Robert Barker. He is also survived by six great grandchildren, Kiara, Ethan, Gabriel, Alana, Sophia and Alethea Barker. Services will be held at the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna, Delaware on Sunday, September 13th at 4 pm, where friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service. Friends may join the family at the home of Chuck and Fran Barker for a reception following the services. A graveside service will be held at Cedarwood Cemetery in Hertford, North Carolina on Thursday, September 17th at 12 noon. Arrangements will be handled by Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Directors in Hertford.
