Harriet Coleson Cole

Harriet Adelia Coleson Cole, 75, of 201 West Church Street, Edenton, NC, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 12, 2015 in her home where she was surrounded by her family. Mrs. Cole was born in Washington County, NC on July 1, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Jesse Fate and Hazel Bell Phelps Coleson. A retired surgical nurse with Chowan Hospital, she was a member of Countryside Church of Christ. Surviving are her husband of nearly 51 years, Deems Cole, Sr.; four daughters, Dani Cole Gavaza and husband Michael of Tualatin, OR, Dana Cole Parker and husband David and Lora Cole Jordan and husband Chad, all of Greenville, and Lisa Cole Phelps and husband Tommy of Columbia; a son, Deems Cole, Jr. of Ayden; two sisters, June Alexander and husband Floyd of Edenton and Jan Tarpey and husband Robert of Reno, NV; two brothers, Jesse Coleson and wife Carol of Florence, AZ and Jerry Coleson and wife Estelle of Edenton; eight grandchildren, Alex, Ian, Jeremy, Isabella, Madison, Garrett, Nicholas Wyatt, and Taylor; and one great-grandchild, Kylie. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by Pastor Bob Brock. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home and other times at the residence.
