Cynthia Joyce Buck Prince, 43, of 164 Discovery Trail, Hertford, NC, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in her mother's home in Hertford. Cynthia was born in Norfolk, VA on February 4, 1972. Employed with Lowe's Home Improvement in Elizabeth City for the past 14 years, she was a member of Chapel on the Sound where she had served as a deacon. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Benjamin Ford, an aunt, Bonnie Gerth, and by an uncle, Wayne Ford. Surviving are her mother, Cheryl Ford Carpenter; a son, Jaylin Prince of Hertford; her maternal grandmother, Edna Ford of Virginia Beach; an aunt, Brenda Higginbotham also of Virginia Beach; two uncles, David Ford and wife Pat of Hampton, VA and Tom Gerth of Rutherfordton; six cousins, Carla, Katrina, Thomas, Monica, Shanda, and Jason; Jaylin's father, Chris Prince; and many dear friends. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Matt Thomas. A private entombment will be held in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Elizabeth City. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the service on Sunday, and all other times at her mother's home, 162 Discovery Trail, Hertford.
