Earl Vinson Jordan, 85, of 300 Jordan Loop Road, Tyner, NC, died Friday, October 16, 2015 in Sentara Albemarle Regional Medical Center, Elizabeth City. He is now reunited with his beloved wife Ann, as when he first met her on White Hat Road in Perquimans County while driving his Studebaker. They were married for 53 years before she passed away in 2010. Born in Chowan County on October 28, 1929, he was the son of the late Vernon E. and Recer Dail Jordan. Growing up with a strong work ethic, he enjoyed a long and prosperous career spanning over 40 years as a long distance truck driver with many of his lifetime friends, cousins, and acquaintances. After retiring from the trucking business, he embarked on a new career of selling automobiles, and did that for 15 years. A member of Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church, he was an Army veteran of the Korean War and served as a Medic in Japan. Well known for visiting the elderly and sick throughout his community, he left them with fresh produce whenever possible. He loved to help "old people" as he called them. He will be dearly missed and always remembered for having a smile on his face and a smile in his heart. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Naomi J. Ward and Christine J. Evans. Surviving are five children and their families: Neal and Terry Jordan of Elizabeth City, and their daughter Ashley of Charlotte; Steve Jordan of Elizabeth City, his son Connor, also of Elizabeth City, and his daughter Maitlin of West Melbourne, FL; Denise Jordan and Gay Scott of Rocky Mount; Colleen Jordan and Carol Kutchenriter of Hertford; and Keith Jordan and Shannon of Goodrich, MI, their son Nathan of Pinetops, and their son Paxton, also of Goodrich. Also surviving are his sister, Bernice Langley and husband Glenn of Tyner; brothers-in-law, Ralph Ward of Tyner and Merrill Evans of Kitty Hawk; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church and will be officiated by the Rev. Ron Parr. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Hertford. Friends may join the family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at the residence. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to his caregivers for the love and attention given to him throughout his lengthy illness. They went beyond the standard call of duty and will be forever remembered for that. They include Elizabeth Davis, Amelia Ruby, Sheila Shepard, Michelle Wallis, and Rachel Wallis.
