Maude Miller White

Maude Miller White, 94, of 418 Ocean Highway, Hertford, NC, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City. Mrs. White was born in Perquimans County on October 10, 1921, and was the daughter of the late James Walter Miller and Cora Russell Miller Eure. Retired as a supervisor from the former Don Juan Manufacturing Company after 28 years of employment, she was a member of Berea Church of Christ and its C.W.F., and had taught Sunday school for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Ernest Wilson White; a son-in-law, James T. Rennie; a sister, Eula M. Umphlett; and by three brothers, Horace, Edward, and Clarence Miller. Surviving are her two daughters, Carolyn W. Rennie of Hertford and Nancy W. Newell and husband Larry of Elizabeth City; a son, R. Wayne White and wife Joni of Ayden; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in Berea Church of Christ with Minister Harold Rutledge officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and all other times at Carolyn's home, 208 Sunset Drive, Hertford.
