Wallace Reeves Berry

Wallace Reeves Berry, 88, of 133 Clipper Drive, Hertford, NC, died Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City. Mr. Berry was born in Smyth County, VA on April 24, 1927, and was the son of the late Matthew and Ollie Neikirk Berry. Retired as a construction inspector from the US Army Corps of Engineers in Fort Eustis, VA, he was a member of Bethlehem Church of Christ. A veteran, he had served in the US Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Aaron Johnson; a sister, Lucille Harrington; and by a brother, Wayne Berry. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Blanche Reeves Berry; a daughter, Vicki Johnson of Newport News, VA; and a son, Richard Berry of Hampton, VA. A memorial service will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendeflt Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, by Dr. Melvin D. Styons. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service.
