Anna Holak Billek, formerly of Kingston, PA, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015, in W.R. Winslow Memorial Home, Elizabeth City, NC, where she had been a guest. Born April 12, 1918, in Edwardsville, PA, Anna was the second oldest child of five children of the late Michael and Eva Susaraba Holak. She attended local grade schools and was a graduate of the former Edwardsville High School. Upon her marriage to Frank T. Billek, they resided in Scranton, PA. After the death of her husband on Jan. 16, 1959, Anna returned to school and earned an associate's degree in business administration from the former Wilkes-Barre Business College, Wilkes-Barre, PA. She became employed as a bookkeeper at the former Hanover Beauty Supply Company, Ashley, PA, retiring at the age of 80 after 40 years of service. Anna was a member of St John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Church, Zerby Avenue, Edwardsville. She was also a past matron of the Eastern Star, Kingston, and was active in the Perquimans County Senior Citizens Center, Hertford. Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, was a son, Neil Andrew Billek, having passed away on Sept. 26, 1996. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Eli and Michael Holak; and a sister, Madeline McCauley. Surviving are a son, Frank L. Billek and his wife, Carol, of Hertford; a sister, Marion Thomas, of Orlando, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Ann Billek, of Kingston; grandchildren; Ann S. Billek, of Johnsonburg, New Jersey, Douglas M. Billek, of Montclair, New Jersey, Kristen Boyle, Sarah Gifoli, Abby Singh, and Drew Billek, all of Kingston; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Anna were held Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. from the Hugh P. Boyle & Son Funeral Home Inc., 416 Wyoming Ave., Kingston. She was laid to rest next to her husband in the Cemetery of the Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church of St. Peter and Paul, West Gibson Street, Scranton, with the Rite of Committal by Pastor Basil Micek of St. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, Scranton, officiating. Friends were received from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Local arrangements were handled by Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, Hertford.
