Frederick John Bloemer, 76, of Sunset Circle, Hertford, NC, died Monday, November 16, 2015 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton.
Mr. Bloemer was born in Omaha, NE on May 24, 1939, and was the son of the late Frederick John and Mary Victoria Crum Bloemer. A veteran, he retired from the US Navy after more than 20 years of service and following his military career had been employed and later retired from civil service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Theresa, Elaine, and Thelma, and by two brothers, Ray and Earl.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 53 years, Laura Baker Bloemer; two sons, Michael Bloemer of Panama City, FL and John Bloemer of Hertford; two brothers, Mick Bloemer and Bud Bloemer, both of Omaha; a granddaughter, Meghann Hughes; and a great-granddaughter, Lily Lynch.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Perquimans County Rescue Squad, PO Box 191, Hertford, NC 27944.
