Arlene F. White

Arlene Frances Gurganus White, 62, of 109 Yeopim Trail, Hertford, NC, passed peacefully Friday, November 20, 2015 in her home.     

Mrs. White was born in Pasquotank County on December 2, 1952, and was the daughter of the late Charles Hilton, Sr. and Marguerite Spencer Gurganus.  While Arlene held a few different positions in life out side the home, her most enjoyable and fondest of all was her ability to be a "Stay at home Mom". She dedicated her life to the rearing of her three sons and later spending the time of her life with her precious grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, her brothers, Charles, Jr. and Michael Gurganus, preceded her in death.     

In 1968, Arlene married the love of her life, Joseph White, Jr. and they had three sons. Arlene is survived by her husband, Joe of 47 years, sons Joseph Giampoala and spouse Mark of Hagerstown, MD, Buddy White and spouse Stephanie and John White and spouse Morgan, all of Hertford; four brothers, Buddy Gurganus of Raleigh, Tommy and Robert Gurganus, both of Hampton, VA, and Jerry Gurganus of Elizabeth City; three grandchildren, Katelyn, Jayden, and Nathaniel; and her two canine companions, Chockey and Nate.     

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, by Pastor Mike McNamara.  Entombment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.  Friends may join the family Sunday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
