Elmore Isaac Felton, 97, of Kernersville, NC, and formerly of Eure, died Sunday, November 22, 2015 in Greensboro. Mr. Felton was born in Gates County on June 5, 1918, and was the son of the late Zachariah S. and Jana Greene Felton. A retired crane operator with Norfolk Naval Shipyard, he later worked part-time at the Roduco Recycling Center. A member of Eure Christian Church and the Gatesville Masonic Lodge #126, he was an Army veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Earl Perry Felton, and by a daughter, Shirley Felton Luter. Surviving are two daughters, Freda Felton Crawford and husband Ken of Kernersville and Jan Felton McGahee and husband Mark of Suffolk, VA; a sister, Mary Ellen Eure of Eure; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Eure Christian Church and will be officiated by the Rev. Gilbert Crawford, the Rev. Wade Bennett, and the Rev. Dr. Wayne Proctor. Masonic and Military rites will be accorded in the church. A visitation in the social hall for family and friends will immediately follow the service, and a private burial will be held in the church cemetery.
