Ethel May Thompson Willadson, 90, of Hertford, NC, completed her earthly journey and went to be with her savior on Friday, November 27, 2015.

Mrs. Willadson was born in Jamaica, NY on May 18, 1925, and was the daughter of the late Willard "Bud" and Josephine Russell Thompson. A long-time resident of Massachusetts, following their retirement she moved to Hertford with her husband, the late Fred Willadson. A member of Bethel Baptist Church, she was active with the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, attended Wednesday Evening Bible Study, and had many friends whom she dearly loved, especially her close friend, Rebecca Corprew.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Magner, and by her son, Martin Willadson.

Surviving are her five children, Walter Boomsma and wife Janice of Abbot, ME, Linda Casper and husband Donald of Belvidere, Edmond Chaffee and wife Cynthia of Panama City, Panama, Donna Harris and husband Thomas of Hertford, and Susan Williams and husband Gilmer of Tyner; a sister, Elizabeth Cole of Portland, ME; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Willadson of Elizabeth City; a step-daughter, Peggy Mack and husband John of Haverhill, MA; 21 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, January 3, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. in Bethel Baptist Church. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the church social hall immediately following the services. Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Bethel Baptist Church, 794 Burnt Mill Road, Hertford, NC 27944.
