Elma Alexander Twiddy Tyler, 93, of Suffolk, VA, and formerly of Edenton, NC and Norfolk, VA, died Thursday, December 10, 2015 in her home.
Mrs. Tyler was born on October 4, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Samuel Thomas and Ella Holmes Alexander. Employed as a bookkeeper with Bank of America from which she retired in 1982, she was a lifelong member of First Christian Church in Edenton and more recently attended Liberty Baptist Church in Suffolk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Curtis Twiddy and Ernest Tyler, two sisters, Mildred Williams and Margaret Luke, a brother, Marvin Alexander, and by a grandson.
Surviving are her two daughters, Carolyn Wilding and husband John of Kill Devil Hills, NC and Judy Franklin and husband Billy of Suffolk; two sons, Curtis Twiddy and wife Kathy of Raleigh, NC and Michael Twiddy and wife Mary of Manns Harbor, NC; three sisters, Catherine Lankford of Virginia Beach, Dorine Privott Straub of Salem, and Juanita Campbell and husband Donald of Medford, NJ; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
