Lloyd Marcus “Mark” Harrell, 87, of 235 Tynch Town Road, Edenton, NC, died Monday, December 14, 2015 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.
Mr. Harrell was born in Chowan County on June 29, 1928, and was one of 15 children born to the late Elisha Cornelius and Dixie Bell Bunch Harrell. A retired farmer, commercial fisherman, and building contractor, he was a faithful member of Open Door Church, and loved to spread the word of God’s goodness wherever he went. He was an Army veteran.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Sallie Marie Copeland, Daisy Mae Harrell, Betty Ann Head, and Judy Bunch Harrell; by an infant brother, and by brothers, Lindsey, Willie, Elisha, Percy, and Herman.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Syble Hendrix Harrell; two daughters, Patsy Akins Brasington of Fayetteville and Janet Harrell of Edenton; a sister, Emma Lou Evans; and brothers, David, Roland, and Robert Harrell, all of Edenton; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Open Door Church. Burial will follow in the Harrell Family Cemetery near the home. Friends may join the family Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at the residence.
