Charles Nelson Hogge

   Charles Nelson “Boogie” Hogge, 70, of 4500 Gilbert’s Beach Road, Tyner, NC, died Thursday, December 17, 2015 in his home.

   Mr. Hogge was born in Yorktown, VA and was the son of Hilda Mae Crockett Hogge of Newport News, VA and the late Garland Goodwin Hogge, Sr. A retired pipefitter with Local Union #540, he was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, and a faithful member of Chowan Christian Fellowship.

   In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Garland G. Hogge, Jr. and Cpl. Douglas W. Hogge.

   Surviving with his mother are his wife of nearly 30 years, Wilma Smith Hogge; two daughters, Rachael Ann Hogge of Richmond, VA and Dianne Lynn Watkins and husband Keith of Amherst, OH; four sisters, Sandra Walker, Mary Lewis, and Ann Brinkman, all of Gloucester, VA, and Debra Alphine and husband Rex of Zuni, VA; and a brother, Thomas Hogge and wife Linda of Gloucester. Also surviving are Wilma’s children, Gwendolyn Morris and husband Mike, and David Pinkston, all of Newport News, Monica Pinkston and husband John of Yorktown, and Christopher Pinkston and wife Martha of Williamsburg, VA.  Together “Boogie” and Wilma share six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, and will be officiated by the Rev. Thomas Gregory. Following the service, Mr. Hogge will be cremated, and inurnment with military honors will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA.

   Friends may join the family Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home and all other times at the residence.
