Elisabeth Thach McCloskey

   Mrs. McCloskey was born in Perquimans County, NC, on December 22, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Richard Benjamin, Sr. and Elizabeth Brown Shannonhouse Thach. Employed for many years as a housemother with DePaul School of Nursing and more recently as a Xerox operator, she was a member of Norview United Methodist Church in Norfolk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Earl McCloskey, and by two brothers, Ben Thach, Jr. and Jimmy Thach.

   Surviving are her two sons, Darrin Kyle McCloskey of Norfolk and James Todd McCloskey and wife Megan of Baltimore, MD; a sister, Brenda Thach Hurdle of Hertford, NC; and her granddaughter, Logan Elisabeth McCloskey, whom was the light of her life.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Norview United Methodist Church, 1112 Norview Avenue, Norfolk, VA. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. later that afternoon in Cedarwood Cemetery, Hertford. Friends may join the family Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford.
